Importing and Exporting
BTC has the ability to import and export records
in either "Comma Separated Values" format (CSV) or "SAV" format (the format
used by the Btrieve utility BUTIL to load and save records).
Exporting
To export records press Alt-E. This will display
a dialog that provides the ability to change the following options:
-
File Name: The name of the file to write the
exported records to. If no extension is specified, CSV or SAV will be added.
-
CSV/SAV: Selects the type of export
-
Selected fields only: If checked, only fields
that are enabled for display will be exported, otherwise all fields will
be exported (CSV output only).
-
Field name heading: If checked the first line
of output will be the field names (CSV output only)
-
Selected records only: If checked only records
matching the current record restrictions will be exported, otherwise all
records will be written.
Importing
To import records press Alt-I. A dialog will
then allow you to enter the name of the file you wish to import and it's
type. A CSV file must begin with a field heading line so that the data
can be matched with the fields in the Btrieve file.
